We provide specialized services in analysis:



  • Determination of residues of more than one hundred fifty pesticides from different families (organophosphates, uracils, organochlorines, pyrethroids, carbamates, imidazoles, triazines, benzimidazoles, triazoles, among others) in matrices such as water, fruit, vegetables, grains, soils, sediments, biota, polymers.
  • Analysis of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), such as polyaromatic hydrocarbons and polychlorinated biphenyls compounds in soil, sediments and biota.
  • The methodologies implemented in the laboratory are fast, simple, robust and reproducible. New methodologies for detecting dithiocarbamates (DTCs) by gas chromatography have been implemented, as well as the application of QuEChERS method in fruit, vegetables, grains and milk.
  • The laboratory implements cutting-edge instrumental analysis techniques. In the field of gas chromatography, the laboratory works with electron capture detectors (ECDs), flame photometric detectors (FPD), single quadrupole mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS).
  • For the liquid chromatography branch, the laboratory works coupled with single quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC-MS / MS), diode array detectors (DAD) and fluorescence detectors (FLD). For the visible branch, the laboratory works with ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis).

  • Analysis of natural water, drinking-water, wastewater, irrigation water and water for the washing of fruit, among others.

  • Analysis of the control parameters for drinking-water quality (levels I, II and III) established in the Drinking-Water Quality Regulation: aluminum, ammonium, antimony, arsenic, cadmium, calcium, residual chlorine (free and combined) zinc chloride, copper, color, conductivity, chromium, hardness (total and calcium), fluorides, iron, magnesium, manganese, nickel, nitrate, nitrite, smell, pH, lead, potassium, flavor, selenium, sodium, sulfates and turbidity. Moreover, the CICA works with chemical and microbiological analysis laboratories which are accredited for the determination of fecal coliforms, Escherichia coli, total cyanide, mercury, among others
  • Analysis of the parameters listed in the Discharge and Reuse of Wastewater for Operational Reports Regulation: biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), fats and oils, solids (settleable and suspended), methylene blue active substances (MBAs), as well as field measurements including flow, residual chlorine, dissolved oxygen and temperature.
  • Determination of heavy metals in various matrices such as water, soil, sediment, food, plastics, among others; by means of atomic absorption techniques with graphite furnace and flame, and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The following are among the determined metals: Ag, Al, As, Au, B, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cs, Cu, Fe, Ga, Ge, Hf, Hg, Ir, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Nb, Ni, P, Pb, Pd, Pt, Rb, Re, Ru, Sb, Se, Si, Sn, Sr, Ta, Ti, Tl, U, Va, W, Zn and Zr.

  • Analysis of other physicochemical parameters: alkalinity, bromides, phosphates, silica, carbon (inorganic, organicand total), total nitrogen, oxygen saturation percentage, solids (total, total dissolved, volatile and fixed), stable isotopes (oxygen18 and deuterium), and more.

  • The CICA also hires microbiological analyses.
